Helena Nominated for Empire Award

Congratulations to Helena Bonham Carter on being nominated as Best Actress in the 2009 Jameson Empire Awards!

‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ leads the nominations for this year’s Empire Awards. The musical horror movie has been named in five categories based on votes by readers of the film magazine, including Best Actor for Johnny Depp, Best Actress for Helena Bonham Carter and Best Director for Tim Burton. Empire editor Mark Dinning said: “With tens of thousands of readers voting, these nominations – unlike those of other awards shows – truly reflect the power and diversity of cinema.” Batman blockbuster ‘The Dark Knight’ and latest James Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’ are up for four prizes each.

Sweeney Todd is nominated for Best Horror, Best Actor (Johnny Depp), Best Actress (Helena Bonham Carter), Best Director (Tim Burton) and Best Soundtrack. To vote, click HERE.

High Quality Full-Length “Harry Potter” Trailer!

A gorgeous high-quality trailer for the new “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” film has been released online – check it out here.

Behind the Scenes of the new ‘Harry Potter’

‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ opens in theaters nationwide on July 17, and “The Insider” has a sneak peek behind the scenes of the highly anticipated next chapter in the J.K. Rowling saga!

In ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,’ the specter of the evil Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) hangs over Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and the students of Hogwarts as Dumbledore (Sir Michael Gambon) sets out to prepare our hero for the final battle (with a little help from new professor Horace Slughorn (Jim Broadbent), who may hold crucial information). Meanwhile, hormones are racing among the students thanks to a powerful love potion and Harry, Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) find themselves drawn to some, avoiding others and grappling with growing jealousy…

Directed by David Yates (‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’), the film also stars ‘Potter’ perennials Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane, Dame Maggie Smith, David Thewlis and Helena Bonham Carter.

‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ Clip Possibly Aired During Oscars

A clip from “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” is likely to be aired during the 81st Annual Academy Awards telecast. Suggesting the possibility was New York Times’ The Carpetbagger as it reported that the clip from the sixth “Harry Potter” film could end up as a part of the planned montage shown at the end of the Oscars ceremony.

The picking up of the clip reportedly has been done by Warner Bros. earlier in a staff meeting in which the studio allegedly chose three films to get their clip featured. In companion to “Half-Blood Prince”, the two other films to be getting the same treatment are Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” and McG’s “Terminator Salvation”. Nonetheless, these rumors have yet to be confirmed by the studio.

The 81st Annual Academy Awards will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California on Sunday, February 22. The gala ceremony honoring the best in film for 2008 will be aired live by ABC with Hugh Jackman serving as the show’s host. “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, “The Dark Knight” and “Milk” are among the nominees up for the golden man statuettes.

Directed by “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” helmer David Yates, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman and many others. Initially set to be released on November 21, 2008, it has been pushed back to see a U.K. and U.S. release on July 17 this year.
