“Planet of the Apes” Screen Captures
Over 450 Blu-Ray DVD screen captures of Helena from her appearance in 1997 film Planet of the Apes have just been added to the gallery! The make-up/special effects in this film are really impressive, though it’s even more impressive that even with all her ape make-up on Helena is still recognisable just by her eyes.
Now that Awards season is over, I hope Helena has a well-deserved break! I’m looking forward to seeing what new films she’s going to sign up for, and of course her final appearance in the Harry Potter films! Now she’s not making a public appearance at least once a week, I’m going to catch up with her older public appearances, as well as the remainder of her filmography. Let’s get to it!

Helena Discusses “Dark Shadows”
In an interview with MTV conducted at the Oscars, Helena Bonham Carter briefly discusses her role of Dr. Julia Hoffman in Tim Burton’s movie version of Dark Shadows.
The film will star Johnny Depp as vampire Barnabas Collins, Jackie Earle Haley as Willie Loomis, who frees Barnabas from the sealed coffin he’s been trapped within for two centuries; Bella Heathcoate as Collinwood governess Victoria Winters, and Michelle Pfeiffer as family matriarch, Elizabeth Collins-Stoddard.
Carter’s character, Dr. Hoffman, inadvertently discovers that Barnabas is a member of the undead, and they are initially enemies though over time that evolves into an uneasy alliance and, ultimately, a deep friendship, with Hoffman very much in love with Barnabas.

Oscars Round-Up
Unfortunately, Helena did not win Best Supporting Actress last night at the Oscars. Congratulations to Melissa Leo on her win, though Helena didn’t seem to mind and looked like she was having a great night! She looked amazing in a dress designed by Alice in Wonderland costume designer Colleen Atwood, complete with a Union Jack garter which she proudly showed off! Of course, huge congratulations to Colin Firth (King Colin!), Tom Hooper and The King’s Speech on their wins for Best Actor, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Film.
Over 100 pictures from last night’s ceremony, and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party have been added, with hopefully more additional pictures on the way! Also below the cut I shall be adding various interviews/clips from last night, so keep checking back.

83rd Annual Academy Awards: First Look
Helena has arrived at the Oscars!! She looks simply amazing, as ever. Below is the first picture of her on the red carpet – I will be doing a huge update tomorrow with all the pictures, videos and of course the results. Fingers crossed for the Best Supporting Actress category!
Montblanc Cocktail Party & OSCARS!
The big day has finally arrived!! Yesterday Helena made her final pre-Oscar appearance at the Montblanc Cocktail Party hosted by the Weinstein Company, where she was snapped with Colin Firth, Tom Hooper and Tim Burton.
Of course, the day we’ve all been waiting for is here – the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Helena is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The King’s Speech, and is up against Amy Adams, Melissa Leo, Hailee Steinfeld and Jacki Weaver. This is Helena’s second nomination, the first being for her leading role in The Wings of the Dove in 1997. We here at Helena Fan wish her and the rest of The King’s Speech cast&crew the very best of luck, and cannot wait to see what she hits the red carpet wearing!
As the show is on very late here (I’m based in the UK), I shall wait up as late as I can to post the first few pics from the red carpet, but the big post-Oscar updates will be made tomorrow. I can’t wait!
